CE Scheme

St Mary's Community Adult Education Scheme has been serving the parish of St Mary's and beyond for over 20 years. What started with just a few places has blossomed into a scheme with more than 26 places for training and development that is spread out over several projects within and just outside our area. The scheme is managed by a CE Supervisor and a board of management comprised of local stakeholders with a passion for community development. The type of roles the scheme offers are Environmental workers, Administrators, Caretakers, Community bus drivers and Maintenance workers. Vital roles that serve the community and fulfilled by our scheme.

The scheme aims to be a window of opportunity for training and development within the community. To effectively bridge the gap between social exclusion and employment.

The scheme offers training to its participants with QQI accredited classes in the Adult Education Centre and industry award classes paid for by the DEASP. The goal of the scheme is to establish a chain of progression for the marginalised and long term unemployed within a community Setting.

We work with our sub sponsors to ensure a synergised approach to community development is administered with the ultimate goal for the community to be self-sustaining and better equipped to deal with the trappings of social exclusion.

Our ultimate aim is to become THE window of opportunity for our community with regards to education, training and personal development.
