Mission Statement

To provide a community adult education service to the St. Mary`s area and its hinterland, which service is inclusive, locally based, accessible and affordable and that responds to the needs of the community in a flexible and integrated way.

We also strive to support local organisations with employment solutions through our Community Employment scheme.

Vision

Our vision is to maintain an Adult Education service that provides pathways to lifelong learning for all our learners to reach their full potential, with the support of statutory and non-statutory organisations. This will include maintaining St. Mary`s Adult Education Centre and its facilities for the community. We achieve this in an open, accessible, and welcoming way.

We also aim to support local organisations and the community by employing local people in training and development roles in the area through best practice management of our Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection funded Community Employment Scheme.

Summer social clubs

This summer we aim to host our brand new Summer Social Clubs. To start off there would be a Knitting Club in the morning on Tuesdays and an Art Club in the afternoon. We are open to having a variety of different clubs in the future where people with similar interests can meet up and have a bit of craic while they explore their interests and hobbies together.

We also understand that people are often away for parts of the summer so these clubs will be on a casual basis and we will set up a WhatsApp group to keep up to date.

Let us know on Facebook, stmarysadedworker@gmail.com, or 061-313993 if you are interested in the Knitting or Art clubs, or if you have an idea for a club of your own!

From Tuesday 4th of July, 10 am - 12 pm and 2 - 4 pm.

Registration day

Mark your calendars for our upcoming registration day on September the 5th from 10 am to 4 pm! This will be for all of our classes from September to December.

This year we have more classes than we have ever done before. Returning to the centre is our ever popular Art, Irish, Crafts, I.T, and mindfulness classes & more favourites, and we are also adding classes which have never been done here before such as Marionette Making, Baking, Healthy Air Frying, and we are welcoming back Creative Writing and more cooking related classes in our brand new kitchen!

We had such a good turnout last year that some of the courses filled up very fast, so please come along early to avoid disappointment!
We look forward to the centre being lively again after a quiet summer and hope to see you all on the 5th.
